Installing UTV Inc air filter adapter

I just received the billet air filter adapter and UNI filter from UTV Inc. I am at work right now (not too busy) and haven't looked at it all yet but I will be installing it this weekend. I have a couple stupid questions.

Does the adapter sit inside the airbox or outside?

Do I need to seal the adapter to the airbox with some type of silicone?

By the way, thanks to UTV Inc for the fast shipping on the parts! Also thanks to DASA for quick shipping on the KEBC block off plate!

The adapter goes on the inside, I put silicone between adapter and box to seal penetration. make sure you dry fit the adapter and screws before you install silicone.

If its like mine no silicone needed because that seal only lets air from outside into air box it still has to go through your filter, one end of your adapter seals to the filter and the other seals to intake boot in to plenum so if any air get through it will only go into the air box and then into the filter at least that is the way all I have seen work

I think a little silicone would keep any extra dust/water from getting in the airbox. Thanks for the help!

It would do that but when you have after market kits that don't even have a top on the air box, some that don't even have a box just running filters off the intake, and many drilling holes in the air box tells us that the main thing is to run a good quality filter and service it and keep it clean is the main thing and that extra air into the air box is no big deal and with engine mods it is almost a necessity to get more air to the air box, thats funny just looked at the post about 2 below this one you see what I mean by people wanting to get more air in the box. lol
