Jetting Question

I'm trying to get the Rex tuned and I was wondering about the jetting. I'm @ a 155 160 and still around a 10.8 to 11 on the A/F meter. By the way its looking I'll be around 145 150 to get a 12.5 reading maybe even 140 145. It seems like the jets should be more in the 160's or more. My Prairie is @ 150 152 so I would think this motor would require more fuel than that. Also, I'm running the dynojet needles, should I go back to the stockers. Pilots are 40. My new jets will be here tomorrow so I can get back on it. Any advice is appreciated.

Well depends on if you are WOT. Are these dyno jet #s or Klein ? Trust your air fuel gauge. I have seen people throw large jets in and slow there bike down countless times 12.5 -13.1 is were your best performance will be. The mids will determine your needle posistion.

Also your main size will depend on altitude and intake. I noticed they are klien #'s on my 840 stageIII cams 0 to 3000 ft I run a 225 front and 205 rear. I have 6 one inch holes in my air box. Point being is that altitude , air intake , cc and other factors affect the jet size. Trust your airfuel reading and dont sweat the jet size.

Thanks on the reply should get it finished tonite Neighbors are going to love it! It has been getting better and better as I go down in size. I was just worried since it has smaller jet sizes than my 665 Prairie

We found that once you increase the compression of the engine? Then it has a weird ability to "pull" fuel through the jets...especially the pilots...we had to drop our pilot jets down to 34's I believe...whatever the smallest pilot jet you can get for these is...that's what we used...so your heading in the right direction...Like KY said...trust your AF gauge...

Got it pretty close with 140 and 145. The front has a reading of 12.5ish but the rear is still high 11's. Going to see if I can get a 142 at the local shop and that should bring it in. I've got a 12.4ish reading on the needles and a 12.4ish on the pilots (went back to the 38 pilots) Man, I cant believe how easy that was! I'm going to get some bungs for the Prairie and see where it is at now. Do ya'll think it will be ok riding it this weekend with the back cylinder a little fat? I got 62.8 on the GPS and feels like there is a little more in there, I had to let out of it becauase a few neighbors walked outside on the last run and werent happy! Hate it for them! Thanks for the help and I guess you just have to trust that meter. That was the hardest part of it all.

I doubt your going to be able to get to 12.5 from high ll's with just a 3 point change. Bet it is going to take a change of 10 or so.

Try and get your WOT very near 13.

I see where you said very easy to do, the air/fuel gauge makes the biggest difference.

It is so weird, about 3 years ago when we started promoting the idea of the air/fuel ratio gauge for the consumer you rarely read where anyone was using one. Now they are common place.

Do you think it will be okay to run it for the weekend with the back cylinder that fat?
