Reliability

Has anyone lost any reliability on the big bore kits? Per say on the 916cc kit? I'm just looking to see if by modifying the motor to that extreme causes the motor to lose reliability

I would say that they would be less reliable than a std bore kit and that it has to do with the installation and tuning as much as anything else.

I hope the reliability is there because if its not I just spent alot of money to make mine unreliable, no just kidding but I did alot of research on the big bore kits before I did mine but I never heard anybody having a problem with the big bore that was any defferent from what people were having with stock or standard bore, I know Todd at Hunterworks will tell you that he is a standard bore man but he is going to be a big bore man after I take mine to him to tune on the dyno, just pulling Todds chain but seriously I just have not heard of any problems with the 840s have not heard much input on the 916s.

Sounds like a third graders response. Even with FST gone it's the same ol crap.

Your reply actually sounds like a 3rd graders response...HW gave his honest opinion about BBK's...there was never any mention about WHO made the kit or even a 840...if HW does not care for big bore kits then it just his opinion and nothing should be read into the comment...I don't see where it's the same old crap...it's just the mans belief and he is entitled to it...

It's just always been my opinion that the further you modify the further you get away from stock reliability.

As mentioned earlier the installation and tuning probably has the biggest effect on the reliability of the kit not so much the kit itself and this applies to the standard bore as well.

I hate to admit it but after installing and tuning a AMR 840 kit in a 09 Brute Force I am kinda liking it!! So far he is not having any issues at all.

We installed a Dalton clutch kit and our HO water pump in the process.

Gonna do some bored throttle bodies too to it.

Actually I'm going to have to agree with Teerible... If you're going to throw out bold statements like that you should at least back it up with something! Although not an engine builder he is a vendor of this site and some unfortunate soul might be inclined to listen to his ill-informed(dynoray) opinion before he finally rides an 840 that blows his mind.(Not FI) You see in his last post he clearly likes it some now.

If you mean the big bore is un-reliable because of the power and torque it makes you might break something then hell yeah its un-reliable.

Shan, I respectfully disagree...I highly doubt the above is "a bold statement"...regardless of whether he is a vendor or not? It's still just an opinion and nothing more...I personally do not agree with HW on this...but that's MY opinion...I agree with YOU about BBK's and I love my 840 and think it's some of the best money I ever spent...
