Siphon Break

So it seems that UTV Crap is the only vendor I can find that sells a pre-made siphon break. A couple questions ...

1) Why a standard bore and big bore kit? The Standard Bore seems smaller, but wouldn't it be better to just get the BBK break? Do they work the same, just a larger tank?
2) My 2009 already has an accumilator tank, so is it just that it's not sufficient. I was considering modifying the original tank and seperating it from the plenum. But I'll most likely go with a prefab kit.

on the big bore kit you have to drill the cyl ... and it will flow more oil then the reg kit .. most guys with big bore are running higher rpm

SO you feel that my stock bore, with MSD, Clutch, and Muzzy Exhaust ... the standard bore kit would suffice? It's puked back into the intake 3 times now. 2 Times at 60+mph and once on a long hill climb at St Anthony.

As I stared at the stock mechanism last night ... I found myself questioning why not to just modify the OE catch can (2009) to an outside vent and block the vent into the plenum. I don't think this was an option on the 08, but I'm not sure. I just keep coming back to the fact the there's already a resevoir there, it just get's siphoned into the plenum due to the vaccuum I'm sure.

My bud and I just made one using the existing resevoir. We blocked off the inlet in the plenum, as well as the outlet from the resevoir going into the plenum. Just some plastic we had around cut to fit. Sealed those up and moved on.
I threaded in a hose fitting barbed for 3/8" rubber hose into the upper most rear portion of the resevoir (Angled toward the rear). Ran about 18" of rubber hose back the the top/rear of the airbox, making sure we didn't have any big dips in the hose. Then capped that off with a oil element (K&N type) filter.
Pretty slick and it looks good using the original resevoir. Took it out and ran the crap out of it, including a pretty long run rapped out ... no burp.

I'll post some pics later. Just had to make sure it worked before I posted any of that.

So Sandjunkie ... do you see any inherent problems with what I fabbed up? I realize that if I had an 840 ... my setup might not be enough.

If you dont vent somewhere else the oil still pushes into that line, you just made it longer in hopes it doesn't reach the filter you put on the end.

i had the UTV Crap one installed on my 09 it did what it was suppose to, keep oil out of the plenum. however it filled up and spit out of the filter.

i now have the threaded tappet (valve) covers and also a billet threaded nipple in the timing peep hole. all of those hoses now run to a breather catch can that is up higher mounted to my bed.

the whole point is to relieve the crank case preasure with out loosing the oil.

UNLEASHED has the billet timing peep whole inserts

Should be ok I think...tough to say...the real tests seem to be incline pulls...long hills like Oldsmobile where you are on the rev limiter...or dyno pulls...

But hey if it works then why fix it?...

But if not then PM me and we can hook you up with one of our kits...
