X-Ploded belt

I was out at a rally couple weeks ago and had the pleasure of blowing a belt. Makes alot of noise and grinds to a abrupt halt. Then the fun starts, trying to tow a teryx down muddy trails to a road then down the road to a better road that is accesible with the truck. Big PITA. I think the clutch setup I am running has insufficent grip on the belt, what types of setups are you guys running for BBK, big tires and mudding? I have the light weight Dalton arms with no weights or rivets and the amber spring, it revs at 8000rpm during the shift phase but am thinking I need to try something else, after I fix the carnage the blown belt caused.

Yeah the belt must have jammed behind and broke the fins and bent the metal plate behind the clutch all to hell. The last belt I blew came out in pieces no bigger than an inch in size and most of it got plugged up in the snorkel.

I think your issue is your snorkels not clutch kit. Too much heat does that to belts

snorkel

On that note. Has anyone ever tried to get the intake of the snorkle setup to face into the direction of travel. Like forcefeeding the intake. Ram air snorkel? The only other thing I could think of is fan push pull system. Which I believe has been mentioned on here.

Yeah, that's kind of the conclusion I have come to. I removed the exhaust snorkel and went back to the factory outlet. The 2" snorkel was making so much heat that you could not hold your hand under the outlet and in the winter it blows on the back of the passenger seat and warms the seat up like a heated seat in a truck.

I have the vforce mod on my clutch but I have not run it yet with the 840, but I have heard of lots of people that was having issues blowing the belts from more power, bigger tires, heavy loads and they say the vforce mod eliminated belt problems, I think that one of the biggest things that the mod does is changes the contact angle on the sheaths of the clutch causes it to grip better, none of the clutch kits do that but you might already have that, just a thought I have heard many that had belt issues even with clutch kits and most all of them was eliminated with the machine work on the sheaths with the vforce mod.

Yeah I think some VFJ work is in my future, I will have to fit in during this winter's annual redesign and rebuild.
