New Memeber/ 2008 Tyrex Owner

Hope I can get some help and advice? On a trip to Mississippi last week, I blew the engine in my bike. Found it had lost all it's oil somewhere. Seen no prior oil leaks and had never needed to add in between changes. Had gotten oil changed, filter, tuned up with new spark plugs, valve adjustment cleaning of both carburaters. fuel filters, etc. Had used it daily for 2 weeks after with no problems. Just wondering if any ideas on why it would just seaze up? Oil light never came on and there was no warnings, runnig along about 1/2 throttle across open field. Thanks for any thoughts.

Wayne, I have no idea my friend...a friend and I were both camping, mine blew up first, then his blew up later on. The only thing I can think of is the motor is burning oil.

I had a oil change just previous to the trip, when they opened the motor, claimed there was no oil in it.

Wayne, the same thing just happened to my '08 Teryx too. I'm talking almost the exact same scenario. Looking into it right now. My brother (my mechanic too) seems to remember reading about an engine defect where the bike drank all of the oil. I'll repost more info as I find out.

Guys, do a search on this. Fairly common problem, but can be prevented. It is worse with aftermarket cdi's when you run more rpm. Check your airboxes and filters. Basically the motor pukes the oil out through the venting system. There is a easy fix, you use a catch can and a return fitting that sends the oil back in to the engine. Search yfz catch can and Michael fitting. Also look in hunterworks forum, lots of info.
