Hello from New York

Bought new Teryx, happy until it belched out so much smoke it the riders behind me couldn't see the trail. Dealer said he had never heard of this. Thought I would join and look for answers to this and anything else that comes along. First time in a forum so I don't know how everthing works yet.

Hey there, nice to have you with us

I was actually born in Buffalo, NY have family currently in Clarence Center and have a farm in West Clarksville (if you know where that little town is, lol)

Anyhow, have you done any mods as of yet? Open up your airbox...is there oil in it? How many hours do you have on it?

Welcome aboard, I would check your airbox also, remove air filter and check to see if there is oil in bottom of box, common problem for some people. Let us know and check on this site for oil by-pass filters, been a couple write ups about it.

Checked the air box, it is dry with no signs of any oil at all. I have about 15 hours on the machine with no mods to it(yet). This has happened a couple of times. It seems to occur when staying at a constant speed(15 mph) for a while and then nailing it, I will feel a bog and it hangs at around 35 mph. After this is when it blows a cloud of smoke. The guys behind me didn't think the smoke was blue, thought it smelled of gas. I am taking it in for first service to get it checked this week and almost hoped to find oil in the air box, at least that looks like an easy fix.
Sure I know West Clarksville, we go to Cuba a couple times a year for cheese. Thanks.

HAHAHA yup Cuba cheese! That is funny that you know of the town, have never talked to anyone that does!

Blue normally means oil, so maybe it is getting in and burning all off? Not really sure.

it has been said that these motors are a little too full of engine oil, had a friend with a brand new 650 brute do this and his oil was overfilled. check the dipstick for depth, i think you would be safe to run it a little low. also make sure that you screw the dipstick all the way in to check oil.

I got it back from my dealer, he said the factory had over filled the crankcase by 1/2 a quart of oil. He also noticed the plugs were fouling because of this, he was letting Kawasaki tech support know about this. Time will tell if this is the fix, I now know what to change if the dealer answer doesn't work. Thanks to all for help with this problem.
