new with a problem

New here with a problem Hi all!
2008 Teryx w/ 150 hr mostly stock, cdi, epi clutch kit. Teryx has lost top end speed, only about 40 to 45 mph. dynatek cdi and stock cdi are only 2 to 3 mph differance. Replaced spark plugs with little change. I am thinking maybe belt wear or slipping but don't seem to be slipping, This is stock belt - good bottom and mid range power. Thanks for any information.

Welcome

Have you ever taken a shim out of the belt yet?

You had to remove a shim because the belts wore a little making it a bit narrower... This is the cause of your small top end loss. You can gain about 11mph worth of gearing just by simply shimming out the primary clutch cover if you want some more top end.

The top end loss all happend about 2 week ago and was quite sudden. Its not that I go fast or want higher top speed but just wondering why the loss. I installed the stock cdi box and it ran about the same or better. I sent the dynatek box back to have tested and it was returned as good. Just wondering if anyone had the same problem and had a cure. Thanks

What you're describing doesn't appear to be a belt or clutch issue, could be a multitude of things, I initially had a problem like this at one point....low and behold it was the damn plenum not seated properly, it ran fine at low and mid....but then giving full throttle was when it started bogging down around 40 - 45 mph, another problem I had was valves out of spec....and that had some similiar results.

Thanks Teee-rible:
I checked the valve adjustment and the air plenum seem to be seated properly. Boy this is a puzzling problem. I rejetted the carbs like dynatek suggested with little or no gain in power. Maybe I am expecting to much from the stock machaine. Thanks for the help!

Thanks to all for the help!
I found the problem it was the front carb slide diaphram was not seated and leaking vaccum. only running on one carb at full throttle. Runs great with no progamable dynatek cdi and mostly stock machine. I did clip 3 coils off the springs and shimmed the stock needles .020.
