tedtulare

I used to be into dirt bikes (for 38 years) but, a bad accident convinced me to switch to a Teryx. I ride desert, and mountain trails. It is not as much fun as the KTM 520 but seems a lot safer. So far I have had it to the desert (several times) and to Moab for a week, and in the high sierras on some pretty rough trails. Is there anyone that has put taller tires, and wheels on one (when in the rock crawling mode)? My only complaint is the "bottoming out" on the rocky stuff.

Ever think of a 2 inch lift and taller tires? Tippier though.
You will likely need a clutch kit too and better skid plates.
Its different than the dirt bike (I grew up on 2 wheels) but can be alot of fun and these motors are easy to get hp out off as they are detuned.

questions

Hi Doug; does the lift kit, and taller tires mean that it will widen my teryx? Does it change the handling on the "go fast" desert riding? Thanks.

You still use stock a arms. You will be a bit more tippier. Its not like an 8" lift though.
Search Gorilla and xtreame lifts on the site for more details.

I don't think I would lift it if you do a lot of fast desert riding. You could just for taller tires in Moab or go long travel and lift the preload for clearance in the rocks.

IF

If it is just changing the shocks, tires, and wheels and no other mod's. It might be worth doing it and then changing it back during desert season (winter). The clutch kit will work for both, correct? My teryx is a 2009 Monster Energy and, I bought the 4 year extended warranty, I wonder if the clutch mod will void it? Thanks much for your advise.

Technically they can only deny warranty if the part that was modified caused the problem. In other words if you have a clutch issue then they might try to blame the clutch modifications.

Not something I'd worry about personally.

I never had had a deaer deny my warranty for a clutch kit, but talk to him before you buy it, but there is always a first time. Maybe even have him sign off on it. I am a big believer on bringing it back stock for warrantee issues. as people get denied bringing back modified toys (Kawi is not the only one either.)
