confused mpg

I am the women who was given a 2008 TeryX...I thought because of its size I could use it around town and get good gas milage. But from what I am reading it only get 6 miles to the gallon...is this right? (i think the engine is a 750)

I haven't keep track of any mpg, the only time I did pay attention to the fuel consumption was to see how many hours I got from a tank of fuel and that was 8 hours of fairly fast trail riding.

8-10 mpg... I can go 50-60 miles before my fuel light starts flashing. Anything past that and your asking to run out.

I have hit andywhere from 80-100 miles on a tank on trail rides with 08's and 09's I would say that 10 mpg is pretty accurate.

I think the big difference is most of the people posting MPG are using it for "Off-Road" trail use and the like. Not many places that they are used on the streets. The "off-road" numbers will be lower due to tire spin and high RPM's while in use.

That is true. I averaged about 11 MPG trail riding in my 660 Rhino. One time i went on a very long (70 mile) gravel road cruise at about 25 to 40 MPH and got 16 MPG on that trip.

The long rides that I have calculated the mileage on have all been more on dirt roads with max speeds of 35 mph. They have all been family rides with jeeps, sidexsides and 2 wheel drive trucks. There is no way I would get that kind of MPG on the normal trips. I also don't think that running these locked diffs on the asphault is doing any favors for the MPGs

The Rhino 660s get much better MPG than the Teryx does. In most cases they have had a good 1/3 of a tank or more left at the end of our trips. The single cylinder engine excels in that area and that area only.

All depends on how it is used & how you compare. Mine gets 6 to8 mpg for farm use. If I use a dodge 4x4 with a 318 engine for the same jobs, that truck might make 2 mpg. So , the Teryx is 400% more efficient. Ya just need to put the right spin on it & it sounds pretty good.

My speedo is about 5mph too fast. From what I've read this is very common. This will also affect your odometer therefor will affect your mpg.
