brake issue????????

Hey i've got a new 09 teryx with 14'' wheels on it and love everythig about it but the brakes and the engine braking,, i don't want to take the engine braking off cause of wrranty issue but i don't haul much and ride mine as just for fun and the brakes i think require way to much pressure to stop,, i ride an 07 rhino on another farm i ride at and you can just tap the brakes on it and they stop good and he has 30'' tires on his i have 26's and mine sux,, i rode a brand new 2010 teryx and it didn't stop good either, i mean mine stops but it requires a lot of pressure anyone know of anything i can do to help or any brake upgrades?

Yep, i noticed the Teryx requires more push on the pedal than my Rhino did. I'll take the harder pedal over the rear brake chatter any day though.

Yes my 09 and 2010 require a fair bit of effort to stop them, especially if your pads are worn out like mine were. I have 28" zillas on 14" beadlocks on my 2010 and it is harder to stop than my 09 with 26" reptiles and 14" ss 212's. Check them to see if they are good as it doesn't take long for them to wear out, and replace with aftermarket pads as they might work better. Also I would think that the lighter Rhino would stop better and with your 14" rims you are losing braking power over your stock tires and rims.

I have a 08 with 26" tires on it and i was riding in the East TN mtns last night and coming down a long desent i had NO freaking brakes by the time i got to the bottom. I do not have engine braking because of my clutch mods, and would keep the gas just enought to let the tranny slow me down but that did not work good enough. I toasted my brakes in one single 4hr ride in the mtns. the brakes suck on these from the factory. my teryx only has 250 miles on it. Who makes the best pads and rotors, because i definately need some.

I would say you rear brakes are shot then. I had the same issue with my 08. I bet you have left your parking brake on a few times too. Anyway , my front pads were gone .. Changed them with some very nice Kevlor pads.. went on my next ride and noticed it took alot of pedal effort to stop. Took it home and tore into my rear diff and the rear brakes were gone. Installed new friction disk and now it stops on a dime.
