I just purchased a new 2014 Teryx Camo- I hear a strange noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when it is under a slight load such as climbing a grade. The noise does not appear when revving it up in neutral, only when in gear under a load. The noise is a loud vibration type noise that sounds like washers rattling in a coffee can. Friends following me can hear the noise over the engine exhaust noise. The dealer tried to listen to it, but it is hard to duplicate it in the parking lot. He said it was normal. Anyone have any similar noises? Or did I just buy a lemon ?

I wish someone would have answered you. I have a 2014 with 20 hrs on it and it started making a loud vibration noise at 7 -12 mph. Dealer doesn't know what is wrong. Did you ever find out what caused your noise?

Kawasaki sent a tech out to my dealer to perform an inspection on my t-rex.. They concluded that the noises come from the rear end.. After checking all tolerances they say it is because there are straight cut rather than tapered gears in the rear end. The noises has gotten a little quieter but is still very annoying.

I just purchased a 2014 Teryx4. We went on our first ride this weekend at Wolf Pen Gap in Arkansas. Noticed the same type noise coming from ours. It's almost like something is loose and rattling. It appears to happen going up hill when going at a slower speed. Surely someone else had had this same issue and knows what is causing it. Thanks in advance.

A mechanical law of physics

If your dealer can not reproduce the symptom in his shop, then the problem does not exist. If you insist that the symptom truly does exist, then it is normal.

While we are on the subject of annoying noises, my 2014 Teryx developed a whine, increasing over distance to a shrill scream. Occurs at speed of 15+ MPH after a few miles. Started after the "factory directed modification" was performed. Was fine before that. Dealer found no apparent reason, but replaced a minor part, hoping it was the cause. Have not yet had the opportunity to test ride the repair.

I have about 20 hours on my 2014 T4 and hear the same thing coming from the rear. I never got a chance to introduce myself on this forum, I caught an email summary of posts earlier today and thought I would chime in.
I plan to address it when I go in for the 20hr checkup.

Hearing this metal slop noise just makes me sick. As for the straight cut gears comment, not quite. That gearset will make more noise by design but this isn't that type of 'whine'.

I drove a 2011 Teryx for two years, and really liked it. When the 2014 was introduced, I actually felt lust in my heart. I purchased one that had been driven about 300 miles - the owner found that it was not suited to the trails he was riding. Actually, neither the 2011 or 2014 is suited to NY trrails, so I ride exclusively in Northern New Hampshire, taking 3 trips a year.

Back to my point - I really love the 2014 Teryx. But the whinning and screaming coming from the clutch is more that annoying, it makes the machine unpleasant to ride after a few miles. I am trying to find a flat open road/trail/track around here to see if the problem is solved. I need to drive a constant 15mph or greater for a few miles to find out.

I don't have a noise coming from the rear end - yet - but it looks like a number of forum members do. I'll be paying attention to see what becomes of that problem. Surely someone will discover the source and publish a cure.

Good luck with yours.
