I just bought a 2016 Teryx 800 / 2. I bought it knowing it needed a stator (wasn't charging battery). I thought it ran fine as long as I had a fully charged battery until I went full throttle on the blacktop. It would only go 38 mph. To make a long story short, I have adjusted the valves, removed the CVT and disassembled, cleaned, inspected, installed a new belt with no improvement. I then tested the fuel pressure and max. was 47-48 and running in hi range 45 psi at 7200-7500 rpm @ 38-39 mph. I am still waiting on the new stator to arrive and it will be installed as soon as it arrives, but I can't see that being the problem. Whether I run with the headlights on or off there is no difference in performance. I'm going to remove the muffler tonight and try that. Anyone that has any ideas please let me know.

update

Update. I installed the new stator and just as I assumed, it still only runs 38-39 mph. I took it for a ride and it drives great, climbs hills fine but never would go past 39 mph. Now I am really scratching my head because I gave my friend my old belt so he could get his 2013 Terex 750 back together. I told him I know the belt is different but he was desperate. He installed the belt and returned later saying his 750 will now only go 38 mph! He took his inspection cover off and I could plainly see the belt was too long. So now I am back to the CVT. My belt does not look too long. I wish I could run it with the cover off so I could watch the pulleys move. The secondary pulley was removed, cleaned and is fully closed (not running) and belt sticks up above the sheaves like it is supposed to. Primary was disassembled, cleaned and put back on. Belt I low between the sheaves and looks to be in contact with the sheaves. I am really stumped. Can anyone help?

Ok, It has to be an issue with my CVT. I put it up on jackstands and ran it in high range working up to full throttle and it went up to 39 mph and then all of a sudden it shook all over and speedo went right up to 50 mph! I was able to get it to do it a few more times. seems if I left off and put it back to WOT it would shutter and maybe go up to 50. I would repeatedly stop it to the floor again and again and I could get it back to 50 mph. I took it off the stands and out for a ride and I could never get over 40 mph. Usually 38-39 top speed. How hard can I run this thing with the belt cover off??? I know the primary clutch has a bearing in the cover to help support it but I would really like to see what these two pulleys are doing from an idle to WOT. I already has the primary disassembled/ cleaned and back together but I didn't see any reason to disassemble the secondary. Has anyone had this kind of problem?
