I was going to get a set of Growlers 26.5'' -- 8 ply but they do not make them yet !! What are everyones thoughts on the 25.5'' 6 ply tires ? Is that enough height and is 6 plies enough on a Terxy ? Thanks , BLW

From what I have heard the Pitbull's measure an inch bigger than they say so a 25.5 would be 26.5 and that is big enough to get you through most stuff, unless your a hardcore mudder. And six ply is what most of the tire's are anyway so they should be tough enough. The only other eight ply tires that I can think of are the ITP Bajacross's. Giver with the 25.5 growlers they look like a pretty sweet tire, I only wish that I could get my hands on some, but they are only available from one supplier up here and I don't have the patience to order and wait.

don't worry 6ply is fine, I have been in the tire business for 31 years I am running 4 ply on mine. almost all 1/2 ton trucks made have 4 ply tires and all cars, you see all of the 20's on the GMC Denalis and Z71s all 4 plys, don't worry about 6 ply.

I had some issues with the 6 ply growlers, I would def. wait for the 8 ply or get the 8 ply Rockers. Ive abused the crap out of the 8 ply rockers for 300 miles with no issues, great tires!!

Any issues with the tire probally will make absolutely no difference between 8 and 6 ply, I would be way more concerned with compound, tread, and size. In the tire industry for years the truck tires that came from china were almost always 2-4 ply more than the same tire built here or in Japan and in most cases were no where near the quality of the US and Jap made tires. IN most cases heavier made tires generate more heat and that is one of the biggest enemies of tires. Its not as big of a issue with ATV tires because thay do not run the continuos speeds, so I guess what I am saying is more ply rating is not alway better and in some cases even cause more heat issues if you don't need the load capacity which is the biggest difference between most 4,6,8 and 10ply tires. Most people think that if you have a 4 ply and an 8 ply tire that the puncture resistence is alot better
but in alot of cases there is little difference other than load capacity. I know that alot of this makes no sense to some people but tires is all I have did my whole life and like some of these engine builders say things that I don't understand or don't make much sense to me but thats what they do for a living so I usually trust what they say. Just my 2 cents.

Big Daddy,

U cant compare on road tires to off road tires, esp for a UTV!! Ive tried at least 10 different brands/types of tires on my teryx's! The only tires that have held up for me are the 8 ply!! Ive ruined so many 6 ply tires, I cant even count them! Ive only ruined one 8 ply, but I also ruined a beadlock wheel at the same time! I will never buy anything but a 8 ply for my UTV!! But I ride very fast in very rough terrain!

Same goes for me. Especially the terra crosses. Seems like every time we went out it came back on the spare. I was carrying 2 spares until I went to the GBC's and have only had 1 flat with them
