braking problem!

Hey I don't know if anyone else has had a problem out of there brakes or if i'm just expecting too much but i just bought an 09 teryx about a week ago and haven't put but maybe 5 hours on it and the brakes seem like you have to use a lot of pressure to stop quick, i drove a 2010 teryx and it seemed the same way. Is that a teryx problem or is there anything i could check or upgrade to help with this??
