So I am interested to know how different people choose to "break-in" their machines.

Interesting article, I am going to have to read it again in more depth tomorrow.

Appreciate you sharing the link!

My manual said 1/2 throttle for 20 hours, so I did full throttle for 10 hours. Should be about the same! LOL
LOL sounds about right to me ;)

Get the extended warranty and WFO. I broke my Brute and V-Forces that way and NEVER had any troubles with motor. Always seemed to have trouble with engine braking tho. After Service Mgr showed me how to reset it myself, piece of cake.

I will be honest, first year machine...I went with the extended warranty. Not usually a person that does it, however, it is a small piece of mind.

That's actually a good idea you got there! Factory warranty is 6 months right? How much is the extended warranty? Does it void the warranty if you bring it in as a four seater?Seems like it would be an easy way for kawi to say "oh gee,you modified it,your motor and tranny blew up because all that extra weight your carrying"

According to my dealer, the cage has nothing to do with with it, however, I am sure that if there was a frame issue, something would be brought up.

I also picked up the 4.5yr ext warranty as it is just a 1st year machine. It was through the dealer and is bumper to bumper (including brakes) for $1200....no deductable for the entire 5yrs.

I think the engine or tranny might go around year 4....lol

Before I rode mine I installed the new Dynotek CDI pulled out the exhast tip, let it warm up and then rode it hard for 3miles then let it rest and did it again. I don't know what stock speed is but the digi dash says 62mph. Which people with GPS's say upper 50s.
I have a 60month extended warranty so I will ride it hard!

20 minutes under 1/2 throttle then full throttle. I read that article about breakng in new engines by driving them hard, and decided to try it. I have a 4 year warranty so I figured I had nothing to lose and maybe some horsepower to gain.

I let it warm up...then I'm in and out of the throtle. I don't hold it at a steady speed for more than 15-20 sec. I'll do this for a tank of gas or two. It has worked for me in the past . ;)
