Can I just rant for a moment. I just got home from running to the store and getting some fuel at $3.69 a gallon. Anyone know why in the world I am having to pay $3.69 a gallon for diesel fuel? I am sorry, there is just no explanation as to why diesel should be $.30 higher than diesel and more in some locations. This is one big scam, honestly, someone needs to look into it. Ok, rant over.

The point I was trying to make was why are we paying $.30 more for a fuel that is not refined nearly as much as the upleaded counterparts.

$3.99 for diesel fuel, I am sorry, we are getting robbed and I would really like to know why this is happening. If I am paying $3.69 for diesel, then unleaded should be significantly higher.

Producing diesel is cheaper than producing regular fuel, correct? Free enterprise, supply and demand.

Still waiting on the explanation as to why diesel prices are higher than premium unleaded. It is funny, no one seems to be able to answer that.

I know a portion of the additional expense has to do with this new ULSD fuel and them needed to add additives for lubrication due to the drop in sulfer, however, it was SUPPOSED to raise prices only 12% - 15%

Its all a big scam, and quite frankly, I would like to get some answers.

I am putting together a letter requesting an explanation as to why diesel prices are more expensive than premium unleaded fuels.

As I mentioned, I know some of the cost is associated with the additional lubricants that must be added to the fuel after dropping the sulfer PPM down to 15, however, that was only supposed to be a 15% at the most increase.

You'll get laughed at ;) In these parts of time most large companies are only after money. Companies are taking advantage of everyone to everything. Please, if they do send you a reply let us know.

We own a construction company and we need a break! 90% of our vehicles run on diesel. Our monthly fuel bill is in the four digits.

Oh the letter will not be going to the manufacture, it will be going to someone like the financial analyst with the local news / paper.

Basically, I am just looking for an explanation.

my cousin works a an oil refinery and he told me that the new ultra low sulfur diesel has to go through 3 more processes now. He said it would come out of 1 process and go directly into tanks to ship but now there are 3 more processes to be done to get the sulfur content down. Anyone out there making there own diesel from used frier oil????

Yes I was aware that it did require some extra refining as well as the adding of additives in order to get back the lubrication value lost when removing all the sulfer. I just seem to remember when they initially announced this new ULSD that they claimed it would only increase diesel prices by 12% to 15% Never any mention that they were going to charge 50 cents more a gallon for diesel than premium unleaded.

Oh well, what can we do :)

It is $3.91 a gallon here in Chino Valley what are you guys paying for it now? I don't buy the additive either I am reading that now more than ever we should be putting a additvie in our fuel because it is to try for older trucks.

I paid $3.98 a gallon the other day here in Phoenix.

I normally only put the additives in when I go up north to Flagg in the winter.
