advanced Flow engineering (aFe) has been kind enough to supply us with a complete air intake for use on our Teryx build.

We are very excited to be working with them and are anxious to get the intake installed on the machine.

You can check out the advanced Flow engineering (aFe) website at:

advanced Flow engineering (aFe) Air Filters & Intake Systems

Installation will be featured on the TeryxHQ Teryx build page while discussions will take place in this thread. If you have questions, comments, etc. please feel free to post them in this thread

The intake has been installed. We are working out some jetting issues, however, the installation of the intake was a snap!

Without a doubt you can hear more noise within the cabin as the intake is taking in more air.

We will be doing a write-up of the installation on the build page, so stay tuned.

Hmm I am not sure why. I have heard that some do not think any intakes do anything, but aFe builds quite a high quality filter.

AFE Intake

From what I understand, it is because the carbs are vacuum operated. Put in any aftermarket system that flows better reduces you vacuum in the airbox and now your carbs don't open up like they are supposed to at lower rpm, so you lose some bottom and mid range. On the new EFI system it should work good, or put on a set of FCR carbs and eliminate the vacuum slide system.
Maybe I am off target here a bit? Need to get a hold of Hunterworks because I was looking at getting his carb kit and air filter off of him and I believe this is what he was talking about. Fix this this up for me Todd if I have screwed up!

Don't know how to make this work but plug in this site and it will explain, I think! .

Hey oscar22, on a fuel injected engine or especially the new diesel engines an intake kit will help out huge, especially when chipped and exhaust done also, but on these fuel systems they can calibrate themselves - to a certain point. AFE makes great stuff, I sell and install lots of their intake kits for diesels and don't have to worry about the filter for warranty issues. Don't know yet about on the Teryx. As soon as I found AFE had a intake kit for the Teryx I was trying to order it but my supplier had a hard time getting one, maybe because they are only automotive and not a atv supplier, so I gave up. When I read this thread from Hunterworks I was glad to have not bought one, at least not until the carb thing is figured out.

Hey there dieselpowered,
You have said you put an aFe airbox on your Teryx and I believe you are running it with a Muzzy 212 exhaust. Is this correct? If so I am wondering what jetting did you do. I run out at susperstition mountain so my elevation should be within your same height range. The shop doing the work is having some problems figuring this out. Any info you can provide me with would be greatly appreciated, or anyone else for that matter. I also have a DF cdi box which is a dynatek, and Muzzy 212 and dyna jet kit. Thanks

I can only speak about the DF dual exhaust system. They are crap!!!!!!!!!!!! My friend had one and had to get it fixed because the flanges which bolt the pipes to the head are aluminum. They get hot and bend, then they won't stay tight. Also I had a DF slip-on on mine when I bought it and within 10 hrs the whole thing blew apart. It was Junk!!!!!!!! Also, the shop is backing up my warranty but DF isn't backing them up. However, my DF cdi is still performing like it is suppose to. Just some food for thought.

Hi there, yes I am running the aFe with the Muzzys, along with some others mods, therefore, my jetting will not help you. I am currently running 205 front and rear main jets.

maddog,

their exhaust is made by ac racing and on our test it did no better than stock plus it was very loud 114db.

The afe has not proven to work yet, we have one in now to test out but i feel it will do worse than our carb/air intake kit.

The engine kit may be the trick though.

Todd

hey todd, how is the afe test going? I'm behind your thoughts on it not working with the stock carbs but there is only one way to know 100%. Thanks.

I don't care for my AFE. In fact I would love to sell it if anyone is interested. I am going back to the stocker and hopefull a hunterworks kit. If anyone is noticing the bump/miss that goes with the afe I recommend putting the stock slide springs back in instead of the new softer springs that come with it. It fixed mine. However the roaring ass noise is still there that came with the afe. I can tolerate some noise if you are making more power....however IF you are making more with an AFE it would only be noticed on a dyno....not in your seat where it counts. Also they are pricey. Hope this helps
