Quick question in regards to dual battery setups.

For those of you who have incorporated this into you machine, how did you do it? Did you run the batteries in series off of each other, or is there some sort of block that needs to be used? Also, where did you mount it considering the factory battery is under the drivers seat.

Also, can I assume the stock alternator is not sufficient to charge both batteries, am I correct?

With that said, those of you running HID's or LED lightbars, are you using dual batteries or are you running off the single factory battery?

So it appears you moved some electronics and placed the optima in the stock location?

After researching, not sure the dual batteries are going to help me...I am looking at working with a shop to develop an alternator system.

Please keep us posted on this one. Very interested.

Yea, I know all you mud, dirt and water folks, not concerned about any of those issue.

The bigger question is once you get all your electronics installed are you gonna pull more wattage than the stock system can provide. The Teryx stock stator puts out around 338 Watts...as long as you don't load down the stock charging system with electronics you don't need a second battery. If you do, the best method is add a deep cycle second battery (optima) and run all your accessory electronics off of that battery. Use a battery isolator (sure power 1314) to insure that your not going to kill your main (ignition) battery and then just charge your accessory bat. with an external charger. The isolator will insure that if the main battery voltage output drops below 12.8Vdc, it isolates (removes accessory load) to only charge the ignition bat. and keeps it charged. If your system has enough "juice" to bring the charge in the main back up to 13.2Vdc it will parallel the batteries.

Optimas should have no issue with running HID's and steroes for hours on end before they die. Because they are deep cycle they will not be damaged from running to dead and recharging...

The biggest issue with upgrading the stator is you also have to upgrade the rectifier to insure that the output is stable under load. Finding the operating RPM range for the coils and then the correct rectifier can be tricky.

Do you have anyone that is working on a HO stator kit?

Have you used this product on an actual Teryx? If so, which wire do you grab, color and location I should grab it from. Just ordered one online. Heard alot of good things about the sure power 1314, all good.

I haven't used it on my Teryx...I'm looking at doing the optima upgrade, but with this market money has dried up. I'll look at the prints and at least post what I'd do...

That sucks that ricky stator can't do a 3 phase mod...

I love the Optima setup! On the Optima's, wich is better, yellow top or the red top? And if so, what model do you think would work best. There's alot of sizes...and a few differences as per the optima website on amps and such... I do think the yellow is a deep cycle huh? What about just dumping the stock battery and using only one Optima?

Great job crnacnac! Very Clean!

Yes I spoke to Ricky Statos and they told me there is really nothing they can do. They may look into an alternator setup, but that is about it.

In a previous post I mentioned that if anyone is interested in taking their Teryx to them, they will have a look.

Yellow top is the way to go...Jeep guys HATE the red tops and the yellows really put up with all the abuse.
