I am currently running with the Terra Cross tires, which I like. I ride in both sand and hard packed sand with rocks so I can't use paddles. However, I am looking for some info from anyone who is using the new ITP MUD Lite XTP's. I am looking for info on how they perform in the sand. They appear to have a great tread pattern for the hard packed sand as well as dunes. I would appreciate any info. Thanks

they worked realy well on the golf carts when we turned them backwards and they are a radial tire so the work when you want to get it street legal

I have them, 27x9-14 fronts, 27x11-14 rears, XTR's and just love them! I find they handle really good even on hard pack trails when cornering - they definately do NOT slide though. Traction is great, pretty smooth, I don't know if I will use the stock tires unless going on a camping trip where I know I don't need the mud traction. If you buy their rims the have excellent warranty. Will try to post the post I put on here where they warrantied my rim when I hit a tree, cracked the rim but no problem with the tire. Also, the first night I installed them, went for a midnight mission of 4x4'ing just my brother and I. Got stuck in a mud hole, got out after a few tries but somehow broke the valve stem off on the front wheel in the process of getting out. I was about 15 miles down an old logging road, no one with us so we were not about to walk out. Drove out, I knew the tire wouldn't be any good after the drive out so I didn't slow down because of it, got to the road, drove another 5 miles home, figured the tire would be torn apart, but besides the inside of the tire starting to come apart the outside looked perfect, could have put a tube in it and still used it. I am sold on them! Hope this helps. :D

Sorry, I kind of missed the 'sand' part of the question. I am sure someone else will give you their opinion on them in the dunes. I think that they may be kind of heavy in the loose stuff and suck some power but overall good tires. Here is the link to the rim that I broke and ITP warrantied.

Yeah, I hope someone let's me know how they work in the sand. Although I will now have to get the 12" rims, because they don't sell the 26" tire to fit a 14" rim and I don't want to go to a 27" tire. I think the 27' is too tall for the sand. I need more tire rotation not less.

Did you consider Mud Bugs?
Side walls are thiner on the mud lites compared to the mud bugs (i.e. puncture more easily). IMO Mud bugs are little better in mud. ok in rocks but pull to one side/grabby in rooted up trails compared to the mud lites. I ran them in sand and they seem to work pretty good. Similar weight tires.

I have never heard of the mud bugs, are they made by ITP? 75% of the time I ride in clean sand, either dunes or trails. 25% of the time there are rocks and small bushes on the trails, but no real roots. I think a thinner side wall might be an advantage in the sand because of the low air pressure gives the tire a wider foot and better traction. I need a tire that performs great in sand but has some tread for protection when I am on the trails. Thanks for your input.
