Hello all: Good to be apart of your forum. I'm from wv. Been riding atvs for years and sons rhino for awhile. Purchased an 08 teryx a few months ago and am not happy with it. Bad noise in it and smoke in cab. Started in low range and now in high. Adjusted the linkage as indicated on here and thought I had it fixed. Just came back from riding and noise is back. Any suggestions? Could the belt be slipping since smoke in cab? Only has 110 hrs on it. Any help would be appreciated

Had same problem yesterday and cleaned airbox and plenum. It had oil in it. Today noise came back along with smoke. Took cover off around eng can't tell exactly where smoke coming from. Smokes when noise starts. Could it be the brake?

It could be oil going thru the engine from the airbox as part of the problem.

Drop the oil so its only part way on dip stick. Still safe but will puke oil less. I'll let the vendors talk about fix. You may consider plenum rings for the 08, cheap insurance for dusting the motor. DASA, UTV Inc and ??? sell them.

Other questions. Did you leave the parking brake on? Did you smoke the belt?

Thanks: Did not leave parking brake on. Will try lowering oil level but think this is not a fix. Still don't know where noise is coming from and what fix is. Not happy with teryx. Son has 06 rhino and had NO problems.

I haven't taken out any shims. I bought it used with only 42 hrs on it and former owner didn't mention taking out shims. What shims and how do I go about removing them? Don't mean to sound stupid but this is new to me. Thanks for helping

You need to pull the clutch apart to do this. You will likely need some specialty tools. 100 hours and the belt has never been adjusted will likely caused you to smoke the belt as they are not set up tight from the factory.
I think there are some youtube video clips on how to do this.

Not sure if this is your issue or not as the location of the smoke, type /location of the noise is not really described.
