I have done a standard bore kit and a 840 kit and just wanted to know if anyone knows why there is alot more engine noise after the kits are in. With the valves adj proper and everything all good they still make more topend noise. I just find it funny when the stock motor runs quiet and you do the bb and its noisy and all the ones I see 3 840 1 880 1 standard bore all noisy after. Why can someone shed some light.

Thanks Chris

Depends on what cams you have, some base circles are smaller then stock cams. Some of the JE slipper pistons knock like crazy. There are a few other reasons such as piston clearances that are more because of forged pistons vs. stock cast, ect. ect.

are you sure your cam chain adjusters are working properly??
I have one of these noisy 840's that Chrisco is talking about, and yes I would assume the cam chain tensioner's are working properly. I have 120 hours on my BBK now and it is still running strong, just makes alot of noise, and burns a wee bit of oil so I am leaning towards bigger cylinder wall clearance.
