What cdi did you order? A lot of people are just running either a ipod/mp3 player or satelite radio. I don't think cd's are going to be very good for the type of riding we do just a thought.

Actually those individuals who are simply running an iPod or MP3 are actually taking the output of the player and putting it into the amp directly or through a small crossover.

As far as the sound bar is converned, I am thinking you have speakers and then a place for the head unit. In this case, the speakers are dependant on getting their power from the built in amp on the head unit. With that said, a direct iPod hookup or MP3 would not work without the head unit.

As for what head unit to get, I have always had great luck with Alpine, Kenwood, and Eclipse. I would not get something too expensive as I have heard head units do not last all that long in these types of installations due to dirt and outside elements. Being that yours will be installed in an elevated position, you are likely going to receive less of these outside elements then say someone who installs it in the dash.

Make sure to share some pics when you get the chance.

Also, you ordered the VDI or the Dynatek? I am just confirming as I believe the VDIs are all out of stock.

Well heres a [email protected] contacted me to let me know the VDI was on hold till June...After a extensive conversation,I opted to try the dynatech programable...It is quite a bit cheaper and with ability to hold 4 programs...I also ordered the mp3 adapter...The
mp3 adapter comes with all the conections a volumn control and a marine grade amp..No head unit needed...check out Hunterworks and give Todd a call he has great customer service...Also installed my kawasaki digital dash last night..start to finish, removing all 20 screws and rasing the hood,45minutes...this is a easy install with great instructions for the nonmechanic...Kaw wanted $160 to install, thats 2hours labor for a 45minute job....do it yourself....

Sounds great my friend, I have been running the pre-release version of the Dynatek programmable for about a month. No issues at all, I think you will be quite happy.

And yes, Todd is very good about taking care of his customer :)

I like the idea of mp3 over satelite over a regular deck. Sometimes where we ride regular radio is hard to get and no way a cd can handle what we throw at our machines.

Yes the MP3, iPod route has been very popular among those installing stereos.
