May be my imagination, but I think you have better control of the gas pedal wearing shoes that don't come up over your ankle. In shoes or tennis shoes your ankle may act as another pivot joint for the bouncing up and down you do while in rough stuff. I would say boots will protect you better but something below the ankle may give you more control of the pedal. Hey, just a thought....

I usually ride in shoes unless we are hunting. I agree the flexibility of the shoes probably helps. After spending a lot of time in mine I think I am going to order the pedal extension and see if that helps even more. Good point though thanks.

im either wearing shoes or flip flops.tried wearing my chest waders and that was a joke

Chest waders would be a pain I bet. I wore flip flops one time on a jeep run and ending up hiking a few miles when I broke never again.
