Anyone know of a good engine builder close to Knoxville, TN? I am pretty sure I could do a standard bore kit, but not too sure on the 840. So I think I would either like to talk to a shop or someone that lives close that has done one that could help out either here or at their place. Anyone? I am not ready just yet, more or less just trying to get all my ducks lined up first.
Thanks

having just posted that, i remembered that the cylinders have to be bored and replated.....

wonder if a standard bore is more practical for the woods? when riding, we almost never even see 30mph..

sleepy I have a set of cylinders I could sell you and you could have bored ahead of time, and you would not have to worry about core charge and sell yours after your build , just a thought.

That might not be practical. Hurry jobs don't normally work out. And you almost never have all the parts because something will be discovered in the process.

Most likely it would stay here about two weeks. It could be dropped off on the weekend and picked back up on the weekend if we arranged the pick up.

I don't think I am quite yet willing to invest 32 total driving hours just yet. I would have more money in gas and lost time than the job would cost.

i think i will make this my last project honestly.

the only thing i dont have that i would need is the Muzzy pro instead of the standard which i have now.
other than that, already have all the other carb goodies.

If you are riding Royal Blue, Brimstone, Coal Creek etc... I'd do the standard bore and you won't be disappointed. We ride all 3 and couldnt be happier with the standard bore. PLENTY of power for the those areas! My wife makes the Rhino and Razr owners wonder whats up when she goes by in the Teryx. Seriously, I'd use the price difference in the std vs big bore and do some cooling and clutching upgrades.

The std muzzy is fine and you will need the dalton clutch kit if you don't have it
Hint.. Hint.. The standard Muzzys will be faster than the Pro's.. Maybe not on a dyno but in a real world straight line pull it is faster.. I am talking about a 840 too.. Vjohn clutch set up is a better setup than Dalton.. Tested in real world also.. on 840's.

Took a couple of 840's to Royal Blue. I have to say I am very dissapointed. No chalenges there.. notta.. There is there dreaded #9 trail that I went through in 5 mins going 15mph.. I liked Brimestone alot more. I can say this about the place it is a fast trail system. We had two 840's and we covered almost every trail in 6 hrs. So we were flying. A couple of sport 4 wheelers tried to hang for a while and just gave up. Your right about the Standards have plenty of power for those areas but I will disagree on the price diff. If you could compare the two side X side espeacially in the trails were torque comes into play you would say I could have gotten all that for just $400 to $500 more:banghead:Thats why you always hear this.. You will LOVE your standard , just dont ever drive a 840.

I like what I'm reading! I keep telling people that VFJ is the man for clutching!

Do you have stock carbs?
Tested the 08 stock carbs and heads & the 09 bored TBS & big valves and porting... Same results on both.Tested the Pro v/s Standard Muzzy in real life run. Four Stoke Tech had the same results. The standard on a straight line drag the bike would be slightly quicker than the pros until the very top end 70mph plus. Standard Muzzy shinned more going uphill. The pros will pull more HP on the Dyno but not in the real world unless you are reving really HIGH more than 9500 RPM's. These test were on 840's we have two to test and play on since we actually own them. The pro's do run a little cooler and have a diffrent sound, a little quieter .. Standards have more of a small block chevy sound and the pro's a little more racey sound.
