Got the Teryx out of the garage and rode for a little bit around the neighborhood and all of a sudden the darn thing started to bog down. Feels unresponsive and every now and then it goes back to normal. Problem goes off and on and at times it even turns off while idling. I assume that gasoline is getting bad so I flushed it all off and will fill it up with fresh gasoline tomorrow. Any help or possible ideas of what might be the problem are greatly appreciated. Oh and there no FI lights coming on either.

PLEASE I need some help but I have a feeling that this is not gonna be cheap to fix (fuel pump).

I would say fuel pump first. Go to your Kawi dealer and get them to check the fuel pressure

You guys are not making me feel any better LOL.

I laso think that it is the fuel pump (last time I buy a left over unit that was already assembled) but I am just hoping that it's just trash blocking the fuel line.

Mine did something similar once and it was the speed sensor. Warranty covered that so I don't know what it cost to fix. It did it again a few weeks ago and it was the fuel pump. Warranty also covered that but I think its about 600 for a new fuel pump.

OK turned it on today with fresh gasoline and when cold it was idling properly and throttle response was ass good as it was when new but as soon as the engine warmed up everything started to go south. Rough idling and the lack of throttle response started to pop in once again. Ok I'm starting to think that this might not be the fuel pump but what could it be?

hello, i had a similar problem on my 2010 T. sport,, 50 hrs on unit,,, the T. sport had been running great.. all of a sudden the T. sport started to run like @#%&,, we looked at fuel pump,,,, changed gas,, same problem,,, the 2010 T. has a sensor when the park brake is set ,,( not sure if the 2009 has sensor ) the unit will not go, it seems like a fuel issue,, at idle the unit runs ok,,,???

easy to check,,, put the park brake on,,, give some gas,,,try to move the unit,,, if it stalls and sputters,,, then lift up on the park brake pedal to the max,,, give it some gas,,, see if it will go ...

we adjusted the tension on the park brake ,,, the T. sport is back to running 52 mph on the trail... no more of the problem,,, hope this helps,,, the dealer was surprised at the fix,,, he now has used it to fix similar units... good luck,,, :flag:

Does this thing have a fuel filter? Tech at the dealer told me to first try to clean the pump to see if it helps. There was a little bit of dirt inside the pump so I hope this helps. But I also want to see if this has a fuel filter so I can replace it too if it has one.

no filter, just the screen or sock as some people call it on the fuel pump

Oh ok. I completely dried the tank since I took off the pump to clean it I removed literally all the gas from it. It was a tad dirty so I gave it to my laen tractor LOL.

2010 w/ 55hrs. Same thing. Idled funny, lost power, then it would hit good then blahhh. I changed the plugs and upgraded them to NGK Platinums. Problem instantly solved. The stock plugs didn't look bad, but the rear one did look darker like it wasn't sparking all the time.
Try that, it's a $16 fix.

I'm changing the spark plugs too cause I don't really trust them right now. I am going through everything that might be causing this so I want to make sure everything is fine.

IT'S FIXED!!!!

After clening fuel pump, cleaning gas tank, replacing spark plugs and checking all vent lines it is fixed!!! Turn it on with fresh clean gasoline, drove it around the house for about an hour and it never skipped a beat. My god I am so thankful right now.

Mines a 2011 doing the same thing changed the fuel pump and filter, checked air filter and muffler also pulled my msd box off no change. The plugs have about 5 hours on them but I will replace them again hopefully that's it.
