It is time to replace the tires and wheels on my '09 Rex. I was wondering what combos worked best for others. I ride varios terrians, but mostly rocks and mud. I have been looking at GBC dirt tamers, and Motosport Alloy wheels and tires. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have the dirt tamers in 14" on my 4 seater and they do pretty good, I just got my first flat this weekend. Got about 500 miles on them. I have the GBC dirt commanders on my 840 and like the performance of them better then the dirt tamers. Although I ruined one of those too this weekend, but I ruined a beadlock at the same time!! Ive also run the Pit Bull Rockers and have great luck with them, awesome traction but high speed handling is better with the dirt commanders. The rockers are the only tire I havent ruined yet but I only have about 200 miles on them. If you ride aggressive I would def. go with a 8 ply, I wont even think of run anything but. As far as wheels, I think all the cast aluminum are about the same. Look at the warrenties to decide what you want, I know the ITP SS seris is lifetime warrenty against bendage or breakage, to bad they warrenty my Type 7 Beadlock!!

EDIT: Just realize I have the GBC Grim Reapers on my 4 seater not the dirt tamers, but if the dirt tamers arent 8 ply Id stay away from them.

I have /had Dirt Tamers and the sidewalls are real weak. 5 tires and 10 flats in 1000 miles +or- all in the sidewalls . But that was very aggressive driving Got the Bighorns and 2 flats in 1000 miles. I'm thinking of trying something a little tougher next time but don't know witch tires.

On my teryx im running the 14" Itp bajacross tires and 14" ITP T-7 beadlock wheels...i highly recommend the tires, not so much on the wheels...but on the other teryx we have we've got bajacross tires on the SS312 wheels...I prefer the SS line of wheels because they have a lifetime warranty...the beadlocks do not. I have another set of the SS212 wheels with terracross tires, as far as high speed trail riding goes, the terracrosses dont grip near as well as the bajacrosses. The terracrosses are also thin and like to get holes in them...The baja's are 8 ply and imho anything less than 8 ply is weak for utv's...i ride with several guys with ITP Mudlite XTR's and the Reptiles...all seem to compare somewhat equally in mud/trails...the bighorns seem to do well with us too, but i've yet to see a set on a Teryx, just the RZR's...

Thanks for the info. Looks like I might need to stay away from GBC. I found a MotoSport alloy set up with 4 12x7 reapers, and 27" moto 350 tires for $639 shipped. I don't Know much about the MotoSport brand though. I ran ITP for years on my quad, and always had good luck out of them.

Will do. I see you are also a member of southern sxs riders. You ever ride with any of the Outcast crew. They are also members of southern sxs riders.

I have 26" dirt tamers on itp ss wheels and have 250 hard miles and no problems. The tires work pretty good in mud. I was at a verry muddy ride a few weeks ago and i never got stuck. Alot of 4x4 quads were even stuck so that impressed me. They are wearing well and have no flats or leaks. I ride in rocky, muddy terrain. Very pleased so far.

I've just got a set of Pitbull 26.5-11-12r Uber XOR tires and ITP SS112 12x7 wheels I haen't had a chance to try them out yet. They look pretty darn good and I don't think I'll have any puncture trouble 8ply. I am curious to see if the extra weight robs much horsepower.
