WEll its torn down and sitting on the table!! And boy am I pissed. I got every gear, bearing, c-clip, spacer, etc on the main output shaft!!! One gear in about 10 pieces, one missing a big chunk, big bearing broek in half, two smaller needle bearing destroyed, all other gears have flat spots or gouges in them, as do all the spacersm shift fork his gouges, and blueing. What a mess!!!! Oh well looks like I'll be spending some money with my dealer buddy tomorrow!!

Back story, had a little noise since I got it. Blamed it on belt slip. Last sunday going up a steep sand hill at about half throttle in low, loud clang followed by no more forward gears.

tranny

How much time was on this tranny? I would guess based on your account of what happened that there is another issue. You need to make 100% sure (when you get it back together) that you tripple check the shift linkage to make sure the trans is shifted fully into gear. I have seen several teryx's jump out of gear because of an out of adjustment situation. Not blaming you at all but these to require some attention, especially if you drive the car hard or jump it. Things do move when you think they can't.

Just wondering how many hours are on your machine?

This happened at 19.7 hours!!!!

Everything was in spec and way it should be. Since the day I brought it home every now and then it would make a pop. Happened mainly on the gas when the rear would break traction then grab back quickly. Its a serious design flaw. The gears that broke which take the most abuse are about .10" thick at most. The eggshells!!!

figure about $600-$700 in parts, I replaced every gear and bearing. A little overkill but I did it anyway. I did the work myself. I was told by my dealer about $2000 for parts and install if done by them. It takes a good 15-20 hours to do it
